Patterson Boulevard Canal Parkway Project, Dayton, Ohio

HistoryWorks developed the content for interpretive exhibit panels for the City of Dayton's Patterson Boulevard Canal Parkway project. The project, which includes landscape architecture and historical exhibit components, is aimed at strengthening the connection between the city's ballpark and the Oregon Historic District  to its south. Patterson Boulevard is significant as it was built over the Miami Erie Canal, and because of the role the canal, the street, and its built environment played in the industrial, commercial, and cultural history of the city. The interpretive panels, displayed on all four faces of each of 10 pylons constructed at important locations on the corridor, are intended to educate the public on the history and cultural heritage of Dayton as exemplified by that of the corridor. Here is an article on the project in Dayton Daily News.
